Whew - I feel this "multiple sphere" thing! Your anecdote about clothing hit home for me. As a professor (soon to be in an administrator-ish role), I spend most of the week in my "professional" attire, acutely aware that I don't look like a "songwriter" is supposed to look in my artsy music hub town. A while back I approached a prominent local artist in a coffee shop to tell them how much I enjoyed their music and thank them for how their comments on a recent podcast I'd heard had helped me in my artistic journey, "since I'm an artist too." I could just see them there, in their trendy artsy attire, thinking, "Sure, khaki dude..." 😂
